We got up at 7. Tim
readied for his dive and left early to get on the first tender to shore. I had coffee at 7:45 and then went to the
theatre to get my tender number to get ashore.
George and Grant came in and got the same bus number so we’ll go
together today.
It was a short tender ride to Praslin – pronounced
“Pr-ah-lan”. A beautiful clean island,
with less than 10,000 inhabitants.
Bridget was our guide and was excellent.
We drove around the island and she described island life. We went to the Vallee de Mai, a large
botanical garden with lots of local trees, birds, and flowers. She explained in detail the male and female
coco de mer palm trees – interesting. It
take 25 years for the females to get fertile and then the “nuts” take 6 years
to mature. Beautiful trees. It was over an hour of walking through the
park with lush vegetation. Lot of steps
up and then down.

We returned back through a small town – it really is a
little developed, but beautiful island.
We took a tender back to the ship and I read while waiting for Tim to
return from his scuba dive. He didn’t
return early so I went to lunch and ate with George and Grant. George was feeling under the weather.
Tim got back mid afternoon and talked about his dive, where
he saw lots of white-tipped sharks.
We relaxed during the afternoon and then we met with Michael
from Future Cruises at 4. We booked an
Amazon River cruise from Rio to Miami for December 2015 and a roundtrip
Scandinavia from Copenhagen in July 2015.
We had drinks in Horizons and talked to Allan and
Nathan. We have also enjoyed talking to
Michael and Velda from Sydney. They want
us to take the Seabourn Scandinavia trip rather than Regent but it spends too
much time in Russia.
We had dinner for two in Signatures and it was one of the
best yet. The scallops were devine. We went to hear the opening of the evening
show and the dancers and singers performed.
They were excellent. Tim went
back to the cabin and I watched the rest of the show with a guy who did
impersonations – Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Neil Diamond. He was pretty good. Then to bed.
The ship moves only 2 km during the night from Praslin to La Digue.
